Three decades strong: ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø welcomes Medical University of Gda¨½sk to celebrate partnership in medical education and research

On June 26, 2025, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø welcomed a distinguished delegation from the Medical University of Gda¨½sk, Poland, to its Higashiyama and Tsurumai Campuses. This visit celebrated the three-decade partnership between the two institutions.

The delegation, led by Vice Rector for Clinical Affairs Micha? Hoffmann, paid a courtesy visit to ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø President Naoshi Sugiyama at the Toyoda Auditorium. The visiting group included Vice Rector for Development and Cooperation Anna Zaczek, Vice-Rector for Science Micha? ?mijewski, and other senior faculty and staff across the university.

During the meeting, President Sugiyama and the Polish delegation discussed strengthening existing collaborations and exploring new opportunities for academic exchange. Beyond the formal courtesy visit, the delegation joined meetings with former exchange participants and tours of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Hospital. In particular, the visit of the Polish delegation coincided with its participation in official ceremonies at World Expo 2025 in Osaka.

The enduring partnership between ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s Graduate School of Medicine and Medical University of Gda¨½sk dates back to 1995, when the academic exchange agreement was first established through the dedicated efforts of former professor Takashi Wakabayashi. Since then, the collaboration has facilitated regular student exchanges. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø sends up to two medical students annually to Gda¨½sk for valuable experiences in clinical training.

This sustained partnership exemplifies ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s commitment to international collaboration in medical education and research, demonstrating the value of cross-cultural academic partnerships.
