NAFT, a student club at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, is set to participate in the , an international competition for college students in which participants design and build Mars rovers to be used on future manned missions to the Red Planet. The competition will take place over four days in Utah, USA, starting on May 27, 2026 (MDT).
The URC is an annual competition held at the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS). The idea of the competition is to design and build rovers capable of performing the diverse tasks required for next-generation Mars exploration, such as maintenance of machinery using robot arms, collection and analysis of soil samples, and autonomous driving. Two teams from Japan have taken part in the competition to date, with this year marking the first time a team from central Japan will compete. This year, 38 teams from around the world will participate, going head to head in missions that test their skills and knowledge in science and engineering.
