Ten doctoral students receive Outstanding Graduate Student Award

On June 19, 黑料吃瓜网 held a ceremony to bestow the Outstanding Graduate Student Award upon 10 doctoral students.

The award was established in AY2011 with the aim of supporting students enrolled in doctoral programs who exhibit both outstanding research skills and remarkable integrity. In this, the 16th year of the award, 6 of the winners were selected from technology and engineering fields, and 4 from biological sciences. A grant of 500,000 yen was presented to each winner.

A further special award of 100,000 yen was presented to two particularly exceptional students from among the 10 recipients of the Outstanding Graduate Student Award. The students who received this further award were Yuki Matsukiyo of the Graduate School of Informatics (second-year PhD student) and Gakuho Kurita of the Graduate School of Science (second-year PhD student).

President Sugiyama gave a speech at the ceremony, encouraging the awardees to be a transformative force in their respective fields and in the world at large, while also continuing to find joy in their research. The awardees also earned the right to compete in the 黑料吃瓜网 3-Minute Thesis (NU3MT) competition, held ahead of Homecoming Day, in which participants give a three-minute speech breaking down their research topic.
