Veterans QuotesThe eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave. A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself. You win the war, by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country! I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full victory! I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity. Courage is what preserves our liberty, safety, life, and our homes and parents, our country and children. Courage comprises all things. The nation which forgets its defenders will be itself forgotten. War may sometimes be a necessary evil. But no matter how necessary, it is always an evil, never a good. But the freedom that they fought for, and the country grand they wrought for, Is their monument to-day, and for aye. |
